ÓB inexpensive fuel
In 1996, Iceland Oil ltd founded ÓB - inexpensive fuel, which was a self-serve station. The first operational station was at Fjardarkaup in Hafnarfjördur. The primary objective with the founding of ÓB was to meet the needs of our customers that required inexpensive fuel and less service. Emphasis was to be placed on a bright and tidy environment, easy accessibility, and simply operated automated stations.
Ísmar
Ismar was founded in 1982. The company specializes in equipment for surveying, mechanical operations and laser technology, whether for engineering firms, contractors or government enterprises, that require these services. Laser technology andmechanical operations, whethersecond or third dimension, GPS measuring equipment and total stations, as well as various associated products, are an important component of Ísmar´s operations.
Most companies that utilize the latest technology in these fields use equipment from Ísmar, which has the proxy for the world’s leading corporations in this field. The firm is also principal in providing equipment for traffic safety and policing and offers solutions in the field from known manufacturers.
Ellingsen
In 1999 Iceland Oil ltd bought all shares in Ellingsen. Ellingsen was founded in 1916 and is one of the oldest active company’s in Reykjavik. Originally, its primary function was to specialise in the sale of fishing equipment and items connected with fishery. The company was soon highly esteemed and acquired a large and loyal customer base both nationwide and abroad. Their success is greatly due to the unique qualities of the founder, who was considered immensely honourable and trustworthy in business, in addition to hardworking and industrious. In 1934 Othar retired, and his son and namesake, Othar Ellingsen, took over the business. He managed the company for 58 years, until 1992, when his son Óttar Ellingsen, took over.
At the end of 2001, the operations of Ellingsen were consolidated into the holding company, Iceland Oil ltd. At the same time, service operations pertaining to the fishing industry were reorganised with the goal of providing complete service to fisheries. Whereupon, it was decided to separate the fisheries service and stores and move wholesale operations of fishery products over to the sales division of Iceland Oil. The Ellingsen store had for a few years changed their services to include merchandise relating to outdoor activities. Therefore, it was decided to reinforce the store further in that field.
In order to do so, the operations of Evró were acquired, but for many years they had been a leader in the sales of transportation vehicles and equipment in Iceland together with Sjóbúðin in Akureyri, Útivist and Veiði, J. Vilhjálmsson and Veiðiland. These companies have all been consolidated under the name of Ellingsen, which places primary emphasis on travelling and outdoor merchandise, outdoor sports clothing, campers and camping equipment, sport fishing and hunting merchandise, gas products and other merchandise for the home and summer cottage. In June of 2006, Ellingsen moved its store to a superb location at Fiskislóð 1, and a new store was opened in the capital of the north, Akureyri.

Hataekni specializes in sales and services of communication equipment, audio and visual solutions for the modern home and. Hataekni also has many commonplace electronics such as Mp3 players, DVD players and computer accesories. Furthermore Hataekni is one of Iceland largest suppliers of heating and ventilation systems and controllors and has long tradition of offering total solutions. In a constantly changing and growing market, Hataekni is determined to adapt to the needs of tomorrow instead of dwelling in the past. Strong roots Hátækni was founded in 1985 and has been stationed at Armuli 26 from the outset. Hataekni was founded upon an older company who was established in the 1950's and was working in the heating and ventilation sector. Hataekni has a strong customer base and is working with some of Icelands largest companies on a daily basis. Hataekni has on average of around 30 employees who work out of Armuli 26 which has been totally renovated during 2005.
Hataekni is the agent for Nokia and Hitachi on Iceland.
Sales channels and service
Hataekni has a modern store at Armuli 26. There you can buy the newest mobile phones from Nokia and other manufacturers along with Motorola VHF/UHF handsets and accessories. The store also has a devoted home cinema division concentrating on providing total solutions for customers looking for satisfaction in home cinema and hi fi in their own living rooms. Hataekni has also a strong distribution and wholesale department which services most retailers in Iceland in the field of telecommunications and electronics. Hataekni also runs a specialized service center for Nokia mobile phones and Motorola VHF/UHF handsets. The service center also provides spcialized service for Nokia owners in Iceland. Nokia owners can contact Nokia Service Center via email or call +354 588 5000 and get help with their Nokia handsets. This service is totally free and is provided during normal business hour on weekdays. The service center handles all warranty issues and general repairs of units from these manufacturers. Along with all of these Hataekni runs one of the most respected ventilation departments in Iceland as mentioned before. The engeneers working in the ventilation department design and set up some of Icelands most complex heating and ventilation systems working with Icelands leading engeneering companies. First and foremost Hataekni strives to offer quality products and excellent service along with competitive prices for it's customers.
